Cabana 2 Drawer Nightstand
Now that the bed of my dreams is perfectly in place (minus the mattress, of course), I'm on the hunt for a pair of suitable nightstands. My bed is French, so I might opt for something French provincial in style (but plain-ish) to go with it…or something else.
What I'm discovering so far in my search is that (a) I'm very particular (too short, too tall, too skinny, too fat, too traditional, too modern), (b) new nightstands can be super pricey, and (c) finding a pair of vintage nightstands seems practically impossible.
That said, here are some versions that caught my eye and that might go with my bed (but not necessarily my budget…and I'd likely have to repaint them, too).

24″ Maison closed nightstand, $895, Restoration Hardware

20″ Empire rosette closed nightstand, $795, Restoration Hardware

Louis XVI 24″ closed nightstand, $560 (on sale), Restoration Hardware

Louis XVI 24″ narrow open nightstand, $490 (on sale), Restoration Hardware (the Louis XVI collection is my fave…and it would go very well with my bed)

Bellina nightstand, $599, Restoration Hardware

Liane side table, $339, Restoration Hardware

lacquered regency nightstand, $698, Anthropologie (this would provide some interesting contrast, but it's likely not the right style. i do find it interesting)

Grasse nightstand, $498, Anthropolgie (I like the curved stems, but it's the wrong colour)

Robin 1 drawer night stand, $195, Wayfair

Horton bachelor's chest, $395, Wayfair

Gallinas 1 drawer nightstand, $75, Wayfair

Weaver 1 drawer nightstand, $265, Wayfair

Stardust 2 drawer nightstand, $290, Wayfair

French provincial nightstands, $450, Kijiji

John Widdicomb nightstands, $1250, 1st Dibs

Any other ideas as to where I might find an (affordable) set of nightstands?
What do you look for in a nightstand? Personally, I need a drawer or two and a good size surface area for a lamp, books, alarm clock, and a select crystal or silver accessory. Here are five nightstands that fit my requirements:
1. This affordable nightstand from Ikea has a good size drawer and the shelf is perfect for holding stacks of magazines or books.
Hemnes Nightstand $79.99CAD, Ikea
2. Ikea's MALM nightstand is clean and simple. Clutter stays hidden with this piece.
MALM $69.99CAD, Ikea
3. This West Elm nightstand is almost an exact replica of one of my vintage nightstands. The drawer is large, there's a good size surface area and the closed off shelf means your books and things won't fall onto the floor.
Narrow-Leg nightstand, $249, West Elm
4. I adore these vintage oval nightstands. I love the shape, simplicity, and uniqueness of these pieces.

5. I'm saving the best for last. Aren't these vintage Lucite nightstands gorgeous? They fit all of my requirements and would definitely add interest to any bedroom.
